Learn By Doing

The MIT Hobby Shop is a fully-equipped wood and metal shop that teaches students the art of thoughtful design and craft.


The Hobby Shop has fostered MIT’s spirit of learning by doing for over 80 years by providing tools, training, and assistance to all MIT students, faculty, staff, and alums interested in turning their ideas into reality.

 

Spring Orientations for the Hobby Shop are now open 

Orientations are held on Wednesdays: 1:00 - 2:00 and Fridays 3:00 - 4:00. 

Final Orientation is Friday, April 19th

Hobby Shop Tours are held Mondays, 12:00 -12:30. These tours are for interested MIT community members who would like to find out what we offer and how we operate. These tours are Free. To reserve a spot, email: hayami@mit.edu
